Leo Fender's original creation (the L in G&L) was already a very successful guitar, but sixty years of technical advances have since made it an even more effective instrument. The Tribute Asat Classic represents this balance between tradition and modernity.
When Leo created the last brand of his career, he had in mind to take the designs he had imagined and improve them. As a good engineer and inventor, and despite the universal success of his creations, he could not consider his work finished. Many other brands have tried their hand at the revisited Telecaster, but rarely with such success and almost never at such a low price.
From the traditional instrument, we find the familiar shape, the timeless butterscotch finish with its black plate and maple neck, as well as a swamp ash body typical of the models of the 1950s. G&L introduces here a modern playability thanks to the 22 medium jumbo frets and the 9” radius a little flatter than the vintage ones, and especially thanks to the individually adjustable saddles without losing the characteristic “twang” of the vintage bridge.
The pickups were designed by Leo himself, and these Magnetic Field Designs are still manufactured in Fullerton today. They have more body and precision than their ancestors, while respecting the overall color of the historic model. At this price, the Tribute Asat Classic can be a great replacement guitar, or a learning guitar that you will never want to part with, even after you move up to a much more expensive guitar.
