The 170 series has a relentless elegance. Its cognac brown color highlights the Khaya back and sides, which, together with the American Red Cedar top, deliver a warm, round sound. The satin finish blends perfectly with the subtle oil finish on the headstock, fingerboard and bridge. The matching binding and rosette add the usual touch of perfection of a Lâg guitar.

If the models of the different ranges of acoustic Lâg change regularly, it is to respond to the desire of French luthiers to constantly improve their guitars. Of course, it can be destabilizing not to find the same model on the shop shelves from one year to the next, but if it is a question of accessing ever more powerful instruments, pleasant to play, with intense sounds, who could complain?

The T170, at the heart of the new range.

And this is the case of this brand new T170 which, located at the center of the Tramontane series, has benefited from numerous innovations, most of which are due to the luthier Maurice Dupont who has been in charge of the design and monitoring of the manufacturing of Lâg guitars for several months now. And the man with the magic fingers has accomplished miracles! Including, in particular, a bracing redesigned and tested several times until a perfect sound balance was obtained. And the success was such that this new design has been adapted to the T70 and T270 which should soon be available.

A remarkable satin finish.

When you pick up this T170, you are immediately impressed by the solid cedar top, which gives it a warm but also neat appearance thanks, among other things!, to the most beautiful satin varnish. As always, there is a simplometric rosette design with the Occitan cross which contributes to its "classy" appearance. The back and sides, also provided with a satin finish, are in khaya, an African mahogany, which marries perfectly with the cedar of the top, both in terms of color and sound. In other words, the best of both worlds. For the rest, we find the usual (at Lâg!) graphite nuts and black oil bath tuners.

A warm but also powerful sound.

The handling, whether it's the dreadnought or auditorium model, is "obvious" as it is easy and comfortable. And the neck profile, thin and beautifully rounded, is obviously no stranger to this. You know, the kind of neck that immediately gives you the feeling of playing well! Finger-playing enthusiasts (but also those with smaller builds!) will certainly opt for the auditorium format, which lends itself ideally to this technical style. On the other hand, lovers of rhythm and beautiful power will necessarily choose the dreadnought. In both cases, they will not fail to appreciate the balance between bass and treble, even if the cedar of the top reinforces the midrange frequencies somewhat. This explains the warm sound of these models.
